Dogs on the radio..
Revolution for Dogs kicked off 2010 in style with the exciting news that
new single “Camp X-Ray” had been playlisted on Phantom 105.2fm
Phantom DJ’s have really been getting behind the band and invited
the lads to play the Phantom First Friday gig (with Ham Sandwich) and
to record some acoustic tracks for the “Front Row” afternoon
show. The band were delighted with Phantom listener’s feedback which
saw them make the weekly Phantom Top Ten Irish Charts right through January
and February 2010.
Further good news arrived in March when 2fm DJ Dan Hegarty gave “Tommy”
some national air-time. This was a real breakthrough as the song contains
some “too blue for daytime radio” lyrics. The band are excited
about this track and invite you to check it out (if you’re hard
enough!) on www.myspace.com/revolutionfordogs
Dogs in the movies..
The lads have commissioned Jake Almond (Indie U.S. filmmaker) to produce
a video for the song “Tommy”. Jake has already used the bands
song “Save Me” in a short film he directed called “Mercy
Kill”. The film premiered in the U.S. earlier this year to rave
reviews.
On the movie theme the Dogs track “Home” was used in a film
called “Prinsessa” an Irish/Swedish co-production which premiered
at the International Rome Film Festival in October. Prinsessa was then
nominated for three Swedish Oscars!
Dogs Live! and in studio..
Keith and Revel played some “open mic” nights around Dublin
this Summer, trying out new material and sonics for album number two.
The band are currently booking an Irish Tour to promote the album and
are looking forward to playing to their fanbase outside Dublin. Recent
gig dates include Whelans, Captains Live, The Point Village and The Cobblestone.
The 10-track debut album “Baptism of Fire” has just been released
on the bands own label Revolution Records. The record is available to
buy in Tower records and on
www.towerrecords.ie
Work is progressing on album number two and recordings have already started
on six new songs. Working titles include “Grand Central” “Love
& Hate” “Setting the monsters free”“Big Negative
Head” “Dear Simon” and “Eighteen”
These new recordings are taking place at the all-new Asylum studios at
Bow Lane, Dublin. The band is once again working with producer /collaborator
Liam “Razor” Mulvaney. (ex The Radio)
HOT PRESS Review of 'Mission to the Sun'
'Offering bleak, powerful and punchy rock peppered with some quasi-prog
sound effects, Revolution For Dogs immediately stand out from the crowd
and are in some respects reminiscent of Therapy? The more upbeat and swaggering
b-side 'Vampyre Of The Soul' offers a slightly different take on their
distinctive sound, but both tracks leave a very pleasant aftertaste. Keep
an eye on this lot.'
HOT PRESS Review of 'Shadow On The City'
With 'Shadow On The City', Revolution For Dogs have chiselled as fine
a slab of no-nonsense rock as I've heard in a while. They've concocted
a thundering feast of guitar riffing, heart-stopping drums, passionate
vocals, raw rawk and sheer excitement.
